David Meek
Chief Executive Officer
David Meek joined Genetix as Chief Executive Officer in June 2025 after leading the successful acquisition and transformation of the company, formerly known as bluebird bio.
He has more than 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and has held executive- and board-level leadership roles across a range of organizations. David’s strategic focus on operational excellence, commercial execution, and patient-centric innovation is helping to redefine the future of genetic medicine.
Prior to Genetix, David held several CEO positions at other biopharmaceutical companies including Ipsen, Mirati Therapeutics, and FerGene, as well as leadership positions such as Executive Vice President and President of Oncology at Baxalta, and Chief Commercial Officer at Endocyte. He also served in global and general management roles at Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Novartis Oncology, after beginning his career at Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Pharmaceuticals.
David currently serves on the Board of Directors for Sobi, uniQure N.V., and Cullinan Therapeutics. He previously served on boards for Fusion Pharmaceuticals and Entasis Therapeutics until their respective acquisitions. Additionally, he serves as a member of the board of councilors of the University of Southern California Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and chair of the board of trustees for the Camping and Education Foundation.
A decorated commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, David served on active duty and achieved the rank of captain. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati.
