Joanne Lager, MD

Dr. Joanne Lager joined Genetix in June 2025 as Chief Medical Officer, providing strategic leadership across clinical development, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, and external scientific engagement.
She is a physician executive with extensive experience in clinical development and medical affairs, specializing in hematologic and oncologic diseases. She brings a strong track record of translating clinical science into integrated medical strategies that support the development and responsible use of innovative therapies.
Trained in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant at Duke University, her experience spans early‑ and late‑stage clinical development, adult and pediatric populations, and interactions with global regulatory authorities. Prior to joining Genetix, she held executive roles at NiKang Therapeutics and iTeos Therapeutics and was Global Head of Development for Oncology at Sanofi Genzyme. Throughout her career, Dr. Lager has been committed to advancing patient‑focused innovation grounded in scientific rigor and clinical relevance.
Dr. Lager earned her medical degree from Duke University where she also completed fellowships in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Oncology Drug Development.
